Latest concert

I do apologize for not posting anything about fridays gig. The reason for this is I can't seem to find any pictures of The Jury's perfomance.

New band Red Neck Elephants started the show with The Who's My Generation- well done boys! Then to finish their short debut set they peformed a great version of Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Soul To Squeze. Good job guys!

Then Popeye & The Pixies did a brilliant set! The best time I'd ever seen them! The highlight was their take on Cream's White Room. Their 20 minute set was fantastic start to finish. However they did go in to three minutes of our set. Although, all is forgiven.

Now it was time for the crowd to be judged... yes I'm talking about The Jury! We opened with Crossroads and finished with Secret Agent. Look at the previous post for the full list of songs. However, we did not have time to do Johnny. Be. Goode. Overall I feel as if the band peformed extremely well and maybe our best peformance yet.

Tommorow...

Well. Preparation is over and the concert is tommorow! It's looking very good so far as had band practise today and went very well. Excluding the mix ups with cars & equipment! However- that's irrelevant as The Jury are 100% focused on our 20/25 minute set. For blog readers only- here is our set list in order:
Crossroads
Purple Haze
Stadium Acradium
Secret Agent
Johnny.B.Goode

In other news... Jonothan has joined a another band! They go by the name of Matchbox Heroes. Yes- the same ones that beat us at Battle At The Bands! Although they are our rivals, they are very good. I will post there next gig when I get more details. Although Sam & Louis give Jonny some grief, they are only joking around and are very happy for him. But... don't think this is the end of The Jury as we are still a great band and hopefully will be playing near you soon!

To finish this post how about some quotes from new progressive band The Magical Tapshoes Of The Cossacks:
"The Jury are Gods!"
&
"They are like a young version of Aerosmith!"

See you soon.

The History Of The Jury...

The Jury was formed way back in the year of 2007. The only difference was the bass player. The great Lewis Coleman
Lewis left the band to join rival band Under Global Mass. Who later changed their name to Popeye And The Pixies. The change was needed as their orginal name sounded like "you were having sex with a fat guy"-Sam Hughes. It is worth mentioning that back then The Jury was not called The Jury but... wait for it... Rough Justice! However with no new members the future for Rough Justice didn't look great. Until one Jake Hitch ( Bass ) and Alex Valentime ( Rhythm guitar) of Rimpton (yay) joined the band. Goodbye Rough Justice, Hello The Jury. With help of course from the great Roadie Sam Hughes! The Jury's first gig with new band members would be The Gryphons School Year 9 Ball ( long live rock & roll) incidently Popeye & The Pixies would be playing as well. After a great set from Popeye it was time for the crowd to be judged. But before The Jury would come on stage. Sam gave the crowd an introduction they wouldn't forget... The concerts highlights was there peformance of Free's Mr.Big and Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion. Backing Vocals? It was Sams time to shine... Here are a couple of pictures from the peformance

Several months later Alex died... Not really he was released from the band and we wish him well in his new but un-named band. With Jake. Jake left a week after that. To join Alex in his new band. Jonathan & Louis were upset. They needed a new bass player... One week later best friends Jonathan and roadie Sam

were at The Quicksilver mail in Yeovil watching the great The Hamsters peforman. It was then and there were Sam officially became the new bass player! Then came Battle At The Bands. Now that's finished, new songs both covered and orginal are underway for future gigs.

What's next???

More pictures?

Jonny Morgan- Lead Guitarist/Lead Vocalist
Sam Hughes- Bass/ Backing vocalist

Our latest gig was The Gryphons School Battle At The Bands contest. We came second, bit of a bummer but first gig with new bass player so all good!

To give you a taste of the type of stuff we play the songs we peformed were................................:

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Purple Haze
ZZ Top - Jesus Just left Chicago
Chuck Berry - Johnny.B.Goode
Other Songs we play were ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin & Joe Bonamassa - Burning Hell.

(The Jury show that the blues is still alive amoung the younger generation. They play with a fantastic bluesy feel with the energy of AC/DC! Gut Busting Solo's, Soulful Bass & Face Melting Guitar solo's) Jacob Hughes (Drummer Of Two Castles Jazz Band) FIVE STAR!
